Business Development Manager Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Business Development Manager to lead a team of BDRs that focus on mid-market and Enterprise level clients. This means we are seeking a leader who has coached, mentored, and guided their BDR team to hunt Fortune 1000 to Fortune 500 companies. In this role, you will be responsible for driving the outbound sales strategy, coaching and mentoring BDRs, and ensuring the team meets and exceeds its sales targets.

With partnerships like Microsoft and Salesforce, your BDR team will be well supported with inbound leads on top of their own outbound sales strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and lead a team of BDRs to achieve monthly and quarterly quotas. 
  • Successfully run a team of 8 BDRs to hire a few more reps within the next year. 
  • Develop and implement effective outbound sales strategies to drive pipeline growth.
  • Coach, mentor, and provide ongoing training to BDRs to improve their prospecting and qualification skills.
  • Monitor and analyze team performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate closely with sales and marketing teams to optimize lead qualification processes.
  • Utilize Salesforce and other tools to track team activities and pipeline metrics.
  • Conduct regular 1 on 1 performance reviews and provide feedback to BDRs to support their professional development to continue to drive success.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in sales development: looking for those who have been trained in multiple sales methodologies like: BANT, SPIN, Sandler, MEDDIC/MEDDPICC, etc.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field (preferred).
  • Proven experience as a BDR or in a similar sales role before moving into a management role. 
  • Strong leadership skills with a track record of building and managing high-performing teams.
  • Experience with Salesforce, HubSpot, SalesLoft, Gong, ZoomInfo, Apollo or other similar sales automation and CRM tools
