Application Security Engineer Role Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Application Security Engineer to enhance the security of critical applications. In this role, you will assess and mitigate security risks, conduct code reviews, and collaborate with development teams to embed secure coding practices within the software development lifecycle (SDLC). You will play a key role in improving security posture and ensuring compliance with industry security standards.
This position offers the opportunity to work on high-impact projects, providing security expertise across web and mobile applications, and contributing to the creation of automated security testing tools.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform code reviews, vulnerability assessments, and penetration testing to identify and mitigate security risks within applications.
- Collaborate with development teams to implement secure coding practices and ensure security is embedded in the SDLC process.
- Lead the development of automated security testing tools and integrated them into CI/CD pipelines.
- Contribute to incident response efforts and assist in resolving security incidents.
- Ensure compliance with OWASP, PCI DSS, GDPR, and other relevant security standards.
- Provide leadership and guidance on security best practices, influencing cross-functional teams and key stakeholders.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest security threats and trends to proactively improve application security.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of application security principles, common vulnerabilities, and secure coding practices.
- Proven experience with security assessment tools, manual penetration testing, and conducting in-depth code reviews.
- Solid knowledge of web and mobile application security and the SDLC process.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, .NET, Python, JavaScript, and web technologies like HTML, CSS, REST, and SOAP.
- Hands-on experience with cloud security in environments such as AWS or Azure.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience managing cross-functional teams and influencing stakeholders to ensure project success.
