Senior Programme Manager

105745

Desired skills:
Programme Management, Electronics, Manufacturing, Supply Chains, Product Development

Our client is seeking an experienced Programme Manager with a strong background in product development to lead the planning, execution, and delivery of multiple projects from concept through to high-volume manufacturing. The ideal candidate will be responsible for establishing a structured project management process tailored to our client's needs and aligned with industry best practices, driving consistent application across all projects.

This role requires a hands-on leader with the technical understanding to work effectively alongside software, hardware, and mechanical engineers. It also requires someone with the strategic vision to contribute to the development of a Project Management Office (PMO) structure over time. The candidate will manage diverse, cross-functional teams and ensure alignment on objectives, timelines, and deliverables.

Key Responsibilities

Process Development & Implementation

  • Design and establish a project management process based on industry best practices, and apply it across all projects
  • Develop and implement processes that support the full project lifecycle, from concept to high-volume manufacturing

Project Planning

  • Create and maintain comprehensive project plans, defining scope, objectives, timelines, resources, and deliverables for each project
  • Utilise project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid models) appropriate to the specific needs of each project and ensure consistent application

Product Development exposure

  • Exposure to Product development across the full lifecycle - ideation / planning / approvals / manufacturing / post-delivery

Stakeholder Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including clients, project team members, and the leadership team, ensuring clear alignment on objectives and priorities
  • Serve as a credible technical representative with engineering teams, working effectively across disciplines (software, hardware, mechanical)

Quality Assurance

  • Implement quality control processes to ensure that project deliverables meet established standards, technical specifications, and client requirements

Team Leadership

  • Contribute to the vision and incremental development of a PMO structure to support future projects

Essential Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Project Management, or a related field
  • 5+ years project management experience, ideally within electronics or related physical product development (consumer, medical device, or something analogous)
  • Strong working knowledge of project management methodologies, including Agile, Waterfall, and hybrid approaches - with certifications being advantageous (PMP / Prince2)
  • Ability to work credibly with cross-functional teams, including software, electronic hardware, and mechanical engineering
  • Proficiency in tools such as Microsoft Project, Jira, or similar project management software
  • Background in high-volume manufacturing and supply chain processes, ideally within electronics or similar industries (physical product based)
  • Ability to work towards a 'top-down' PMO structure while implementing practical 'bottom-up' process improvements
