Senior IT Systems Engineer

A client of mine is looking for a Senior IT Systems Engineer to join their team in Cork. This role will focus on managing and supporting complex IT infrastructure systems, providing Level 3 support, and driving ongoing IT projects.

Responsibilities:

• Provide Level 3 support for Windows-based server environments, including user management in Active Directory and Group Policy.
• Manage and support virtualization technologies such as VMware and Hyper-V.
• Oversee the configuration and maintenance of network infrastructure (firewalls, routers, switches).
• Assist with cloud migrations and Microsoft Azure configurations.
• Document and maintain accurate records of system configurations, changes, and support tickets.
• Lead IT projects such as server upgrades, storage solutions, and network enhancements.
• Collaborate with IT teams to ensure infrastructure stability and performance.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience in IT infrastructure and systems engineering.
• Proficiency in managing Windows Server environments, virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V), and network infrastructure.
• Strong knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and other networking protocols.
• Experience with cloud platforms, especially Microsoft Azure.
• Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, VMware Certified Professional, or CCNA are highly desirable.
