What is NetSuite?

NetSuite is an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system that provides businesses with all the applications they need, in the one place. It contains applications for finance, human resources, customer relationship management (CRM), e-commerce and much more!

NetSuite is entirely based on the cloud, making it accessible from any device, anywhere (with an internet connection), at any time. It is also a multi-tenant cloud solution, meaning that everyone has the same version of the software & back-end infrastructure, and automatically receive updates.

When was NetSuite created?

NetSuite (first known as NetLedger) was founded in 1998 by Evan Goldberg and funded by Larry Ellison. They realised that the future was online and therefore created the web-based software company.

What is the relationship between NetSuite and Oracle?

In 2016, Oracle acquired NetSuite to support its shift to becoming a cloud software provider. NetSuite is often recognised as the first cloud software company.

How is NetSuite implemented?

Companies who want to use NetSuite pay a subscription fee to access the portal, which operates through a software as a service (SaaS) model. Its annual license fee is broken down into;

  1. The core platform
  2. Optional modules
  3. Number of users

There is also a one-time implementation fee for initial set up.

What are the benefits of using NetSuite?

  • SaaS ERP systems are quicker to set up than on-premises systems because there are no servers to set up or devices to configure
  • Applications can be added as the business grows/changes
  • Highly customizable to suit business needs
  • No maintenance required
  • Real time data to help make informed decisions quickly
  • SuiteSuccess: NetSuite’s implementation methodology tailors implementation based on the company’s industry and size
  • Ability to adjust to different currencies, languages etc.
