The Tech Scene in Ireland

The Taoiseach, Leo Varadkar, said that Ireland is well on its way to becoming the tech capital of Europe. Ireland is currently the number one destination in the world for foreign direct investment by US technology companies and home to nearly all the largest multinational tech companies. For example, it hosts nine of the top ten global software companies and US technology companies, the top three enterprise software companies in the world and four of the top five IT service companies.

Ireland is Improving at Developing and Attracting Talent

According to a new study from the IMD World Talent Ranking, Ireland places 14th out of 64 economies worldwide for developing, attracting and retaining talent, ranking above both the US and UK. The USA was in 16th place with the survey authors warning it risks losing some of its global competitiveness if it does not increase investment in public education. Meanwhile, the UK was down one spot to 21st place.
